Review: Nanette Lepore Perfume

I recently received a bottle of Nanette Lepore's classic Eau de Parfum Spray ($38.) I love this white, floral scent, it's light and delicate but has a hint of something tangy. Plus who doesn't love the shiny pale pink bottle with the small black and white polka-dot bow?

Notes: Moonstone Rose, White Peach, White Cranberry Juices, Magenta Nectar, Black Currant, Orange Jasmine, Persian Lime Juice, Velvet Violet, Amber and Indian Sandalwood.

Review: Lip Scrub by Sara Happ

Trying to find a better alternative for lip exfoliation than rubbing with a wet washcloth or baby toothbrush, Sara Happ created the Lip Scrub. After multiple concoctions, she finally found "the one" and couldn't stop using it. She decided on a chocolate-brown box tied with a sheer white ribbon for the packaging. Her product is now available in over 250 luxury boutiques throughout the United States and Canada and is distributed in 20+ countries including the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand and Germany.

I was delighted to try this- not only is the packaging beautiful, so is the actual product. The Lip Scrub ($25) is a sugar based exfoliator containing natural extracts. I tried it in Cocoa. All you do is rub some around on your lips and then tissue it off. It smelled so good I almost licked my lips. This provides pinker, non-flaky lips. It claims to "eliminate dry, flaky skin to leave lips ridiculously soft and supple" and it's true. This delectable treat is available in 6 yummy flavors: Almond Creme, Peppermint, Vanilla Bean, Brown Sugar, Cinnamon Sugar and Cocoa.

Review: Trish McEvoy- Be Prepared Pink

Trish McEvoy's Be Prepared Pink Kit ($28) is the cutest thing ever. It fits inside the palm of my hand (and my hand is pretty small). There's 8 lip glosses and lip colors. I like to use a color from the top tier and layer one from the bottom on top because they're sparkly or shimmery. Great for your purse because there's so many colors and they can also be used for blush in a pinch.

Top Deck: Tropical Pink Lip Gloss, Babydoll Lip Gloss, Rosette Lip Gloss, Sparkling Pink Lip Color

Bottom Deck: Bare Lip Color, Buff Lip Color, Sugared Pink Lip Color and Sexy Lip Gloss

Net proceeds of the kit will be donated to support Girl Scouting.

Review: Carol's Daughter Candy Paint Lip Gloss

Carol's Daughter Candy Paint Lip Gloss ($13.50) is a hydrating and moisturizing gloss that contains shea butter, aloe vera and Vitamin E. The unique formula is unsticky plus it's paraben-, mineral oil-, and petroleum-free. Adds color and shine so lips are soft and smooth long after use. I really like this gloss, it's moisturizing and leaves a lovely sheen of color on lips.

*1.5 million Americans have Lupus, and Lupus is 3 times more common among African American women than Caucasian women. Carol's Daughter is proud to donate a portion of its sales of Candy Paint Lip Gloss to the Lupus Foundation of America.

New Collection: Cargo -blu_ray?

Cargo's new blu_ray? products were all created especially for use with high-definition film, featuring the latest technology in photochromatic pigments, optical blurring and hyaluronic spheres, all which create natural looking coverage.

-blu_ray? Lip Gloss ($29)- The refreshing mint formula gives a technology-driven plumping and line-filling effect for instantly fuller lips with long term results, hyaluronic acid spheres provide plumping while amino acid peptides stimulate collagen to regenerate cells. New Product: Clarins Pure Melt Cleansing Gel

Introducing: Clarin's Pure Melt Cleansing Gel ($30) It's a gel, oil and milk in one! The best way to remove oil from the skin is not with water, it's with oil. Since oil and water don't mix, oil attaches to oil, helping balance and refine the skin. New Collection/Review: MAC Moisturelush

"Demand more quality face-time. New moisturelush lasts longer, richly hydrates, protects and primes skin for a smooth, more perfect makeup application. Velvetize cheeks and brow with moisturelush cream. For immediate cushion and luminous optics that appear to lift and firm skin around the eyes, moisturelush cream. For immediate cushion and luminous optics that appear to lift and firm skin around the eyes, moisturelush eye cream. Use both to energize and emphasize assets every day."

Moisturelush Cream ($30) is a densely hydrating face cream that helps moisturize and protect facial skin. The silky cream creates an even surface for smooth makeup application. Apply to face, morning and night after cleansing. For a cream, it's surprisingly light. When you smooth it over your face you can feel it melt into a soft layer that's great at night and in the morning before makeup. Try it, it's really good. My new favorite.

Moisturelush Eye Cream ($28.50) is a non-acnegenic, extremely hydrating eye cream that de-puffs while lifting and firming the area around the eyes. Apply to clean, dry skin under and around the eye, morning and night. This light and fluffy cream is slightly pearlized I think, which highlights the entire eye area. It sinks into the skin nicely and is an ideal pre-eye concealing cream.

Available in:
-Citrus ($20)- Contains herbal extracts and essential oils of grapefruit, neroli, lemon and peppermint.

-Black Pepper ($20)- Great for active people, removing sweat and dirt from the skin. Includes herbal extracts and essential-oils of black pepper, ylang-ylang and vetivert. Formulated with antiseptic properties to cleanse the skin and Vitamin E to protect skin from damage. I know what you're thinking- Black Pepper Body Wash? Ick. Those were my thoughts initially, but it's actually not as strange and overpowering as you might think. I'd peg it as more of a "guy-friendly" body wash, tho. Try it on your boyfriend!

-Cucumber ($20)- Contains herbal extracts and essential oils of cucumber, basil, white rose and geranium. This was my favorite of the 4. This moisturizing wash is gently fragranced and soaps up to a very nice lather.

Beauty Trend: Face Contouring Products

It's funny, because most makeup artists will tell you to not to contour. It's simply something that cannot be done by commoners. A normal person would end up looking dirty. Well, makeup companies are making it easier for the every-day-jane to slim her nose or define her cheek bones. Take a look:

Laura Geller's Shade N' Sculpt Baked Contouring Power with Brush ($38)- A silky baked powder that adds natural definition to the face. 2/3 of the pan holds the dark sculpting shade (soft brown with gold specks), a unique tone created to mimic the face's natural shadows. The remaining 1/3 holds the subtle highlighter (soft nude, beige shimmer) that enhances the sculpted effects.

MAC Sculpt and Shape Powder ($21, pictured- Accentuate/Sculpt: pale blushed beige/soft taupe) - A duo-pan shaded compact featuring a contour and a highlight powder in shades selected to complement each other. Professional formula. Jet-milled, ultra-smooth to apply: provides almost imperceptible shading. Use to shape and define the facial planes or define the shape of the eye. Available in: Bone Beige/Emphasize: palest cream/tan, Accentuate/Sculpt: pale blushed beige/soft taupe, Lightsweep/Shadester: Soft peachy beige/mid-tone brown, Warm Light/Definitive (clean peach/mid-tone reddish brown.)

Stila's Face Contouring Trio
($38)- A set of 3 shading powders to sculpt your facial features.

Are you going to try any of these new contouring powders?

New Too Faced

We all love the super fun and trendy products of Jerrod Blandino, the makeup artist behind Too Faced Cosmetics. Check out some of the latest from this brand:

-Galaxy Glam Eye Shadow ($19.50)- Futuristic Italian opalescent-pigments are baked into each shadow for intensity, providing a multi-dimensional smoky eye. I don't know how this stuff looks on, but it sure looks neat in in the package. Available in: Deep Space (black with cobalt blue), Moonbeam (black with laser light green), Shooting star (black with galactic gold) and Supernova (black with peach and pink.)

-Lip Of Luxury ($18)- A luxe champagne infused lipstick, rich in shea butter, color and diamond shine. The special formula smooths out fine lines and creases while staying on the lips and feeling soft as satin. The pink case is highlighted with a 20-carat diamond-colored rhinestone. Available in 8 shades.

-Shadow Insurance ($17)- A full-coverage insurance policy against fading, creasing, melting, blurring and hard-to-blend eyeshadow accidents. This silicone based primer evens out the skin tone on lids and smooths lines while securing a barrier between the oils of your skin and your makeup. Versatile and very concentrated (the size of a raindrop covers the entire lid) it can be used with powder or cream eye shadows.

Review: Shu Uemura Eye Lash Curler

BEHOLD: The Holy Grail of all Eyelash Curlers...
The SHU UEMURA EYELASH CURLER ($18)

First of all, I'd like to say that I have a bit of an obsession with eyelash curling. At 10 o'clock at night, peek into my house. I'm sitting on the sofa curling my lashes with not one, but 2 curlers. Since I've lived with numerous people over the years (all male), I've gotten my fair share of teasing. "God forbid Kyle's eyelashes aren't curly enough...", "The world ends if Kyle doesn't have her eyelash curlers or tweezers" OK, fine, I get it. But I have to say that most of my friends don't relish the fact that their eyelashes naturally curl up- not down. And that's something I'd pay lots of money to have occur naturally.

The new, Shu Uemura Eyelash Curler is perfectly measured and finely balanced. The upgraded silicone pad is in a "mushroom" shape to provide a protective, stay-put edge for improved safety and optimum curl. The new patented hinge is specifically engineered to apply the perfect amount of pressure to your delicate lashes. The calculated size, shape, frame length and ergonomic handles ensure stability and control, while the curved angle suits all eye shapes. The problem with my other eyelash curlers is that they were too deep set- and constantly poking me in the corners of my eyes. This one seems flatter, shallower, so I can really grab every single lash at the inside and outside corners.

At first, I was a little bit in awe. So this is it? Seems like a pretty typical eyelash curler to me... But upon its 3rd and 4th use, I realized, holy crap, this thing is really amazing. Not only does it curl quickly- and crimplessly, it also holds its curl for the entire day! I think I'm reformed. Are you? What's your favorite eyelash curler?

Review: Le Couvent Des Minimes Lavender & Acacia Soothing Shower Gel

"In 1862, missionary sisters tranformed The Minimes Convent in Provence, France into a place of care. They enriched the convent's legacy of plant studies by applying their knowledge of nature to create remedies for the residents of the convent. Inspired by this history, each product from Le Couvent Des Minimes is touched by this tradition with age-old recipes, selection of the finest natural ingrediest and ancestral know-how to combine pleasure with remedy. "

Relaxing lavender and softening acacia extracts plus moisturizing seaweed beads combine in the Lavender & Acacia Soothing Shower Gel ($19.95.) I love the light, refreshing scent of lavender. It leaves me feeling extra clean, but not dry. I really like the packaging for this line, it's old-fashioned and pretty. Also available in deeply soothing night body creme, home perfume, relaxing effervescent bath salts, foaming bath, soothing body milk and soothing night hand cream.
