Inspired by the sensual and refined beauty of Indian women, this precious collection offers touches of bright, joyful oranges and pinks that are evocative of the culture's ornate clothing and makeup. NARS Spring 2009

“My inspiration for spring was a very sexy woman,” explains François Nars, Founder
and Creative Director of NARS Cosmetics. “I wanted a bit of a ‘70s feeling,
somewhere between Guy Bourdin and Chris Von Wangenheim’s photographs—
aggressive, but very sensual and fragile at the same time.”
A striking matte brick-red eyeshadow, made infinitely more wearable in combination
with a pearly white shadow or simple black liner, is tempered by a sweet, baby pink
glossy lip; while eyes painted in pastel hues of dusty rose, sage and lilac are a fitting
match for a statement-making berry lip. And everything should be paired with the
only cheek for spring: sparkling and sculpted.

Blush Duo ($37)
-Hungry Heart- Iridescent gold ivory and pink sand with golden sheen

Duo Concealer ($30)- 2 lightweight, creamy, crease resistant concealers that you can blend together or use alone. Fragrance free.
-Vanilla/Honey- Fair complexions
-Custard/Ginger- Light to medium complexions
-Praline/Toffee- Medium to dark complexions

Duo Eye Shadow ($32)
-Egea- Frosted sage and smoky lilac
-Hula Hula- Strawberry with gold particles and hazelnut with gold glitter
particles

Single Eye Shadow ($22)
-Baby Girl- Cotton candy with golden undertones and gold particles
-Grenadines- Matte garnet
-Night Sun- Bright marigold with gold particles

The Multiple Duo ($45)
-Orgasm/South Beach- Peachy pink and apricot with shimmer

The Multiple Bronzer ($37)
-Cap Vert- Medium to dark complexions with red undertones

Lip Gloss ($24)
-Sweet Revenge- Sheer pink grapefruit

Lipstick ($24)
-Shrinagar- Metallic raspberry

Gossip Girl Fashion: Get it for less!

So I have to tell you...
I recently watched the entire first season of Gossip Girl, and WHEN is season 2 coming out? I'm dying here, I'm trying to watch it all chronologically. I loved it of course. You've just got to love the clothes, shoes, purses, makeup, girls, guys, parents, decor- yeah. It's addictive. ANYWAY, as I was watching, I couldn't help but notice a particular purse (shown above) that Ms. Serena Van Der Woodsen had. (And I LOVE her outfit! Everything, the leather jacket, the skirt, the boots- EVERYTHING.)

After searching the web for ages, I found out who made it. A talented, beautiful knotter, Katherine Kwei (shown above), who began her career at Louis Vuitton and then Zac Posen. It's the Edna Tote bag in camel from the Fall/Winter 07 collection. It costs $1,165 (which is obv. out of my price range) so I settled for the Edna Shoulder bag in cream (shown below), instead. It retails for $890 (which also is obv. out of my price range) so I searched like a mad woman- everywhere- for a sale. Couldn't find one, and then I saw that Hautelook.com was having one! You know I was like the first one in that sale, I set an alarm and everything. I snagged it for $280. And I LOVE it. Under the cream knots, there's silver ones and the inside of the bag is soft red suede.

Check out the one that Jenny sported later on. It's the Kayla Bucket bag in sea, from the Holiday/Resort 08/09 Collection. It retails for $480, which seems like quite a steal actually.

Do you want access to the hottest designer sales, like this one? I can invite you to join Hautelook.com. Just leave your email in the comment section.

You know you love me! XOXO...

Review: Anastasia Highlighting Brow Kit

The Anastasia Highlighting Brow Kit ($32) is a uniquely blended terra cotta duo of highlighter and brow color. You get 3 shades of each that can be used wet or dry (without damaging the surface of the product.) The exclusive Balkan Botanical Infusion contains rare plant and herb extracts found only in Romania, that calms, soothes and softens skin.

-Brow Trio- Perfection. You can use these colors alone or blended together to a custom shade. I blend the middle grey stripe with the dark brown stripe on the right to find my perfect brow color. I use the Anastasia Mini Duo Brush for just the right amount of definition. If it gets too dark, I run the spooley side through. I like this even better than the Brow Powder duo because it offers more versatility.

-Highlighter Trio- I like this, don't get me wrong. The 3 colors can be used as eye shadow or to higlight the brow bone. Subtle, not TOO sparkly.

Mine came with a mini Brow Gel that is truly adorable. Love! I threw mine in my purse right away. I was supposed to be giving you guys the opportunity to win one of these, but unfortunately the other set was broken when I got it. :( Stay tuned for more great products to win!

"Three dramatically different personalities, three perfectly personalized palettes. Eyes, cheeks, lips, formulated to be coiffure- complementary. Bombshell or book worm, no matter. Colour-coordination this comprehensive makes it work! Designed to play-up the most potent and powerful accessory a girl has: her hair. The complete opposite of contrivance- this is simplicity itself. So basic, it's brilliant!"

-Live and Dye- Cool Pink
-Red Devil- Coral Orange

Eye Shadow ($14.50)

-All's Fair- Light Purple Pink

Lipglass ($14)

Peroxide is a pretty, icy gloss with some sparkles that was very slightly tinted with pink. I do imagine it looking better on a blonde, but it won't stop me from wearing it.

Eye Shadow ($14.50)
-Pincurl- Dusty White
-Knight- Dark Grey

-Top Knot- Deep Black Purple

Pincurl is more of a grey tinted white. Not chalky.

Mineralize Skinfinish ($28)

-Lip Gloss Compact ($20)
New Colors:
-Guava
-Coral Pink
-Pink Cloud
-Cherry Pink
-True Beige

-Pink Beige

Pink Cloud is the brightest hot pink. It provides a glossy shock of color to the lips. The gloss is creamy and emollient to the touch. LOVE the block packaging.

Review: Dior Creme de Gloss

Dior Creme de Gloss ($25.50) - A creamy lipstick in a gloss. It combines lush, sensuous color with rich, sexy shine. It's moisturizing and nourishing with a white tea fragrance. I tried Red Venetian Satin # 851. It's a bright pinky berry shade. One coat is all you need for full, heavily saturated color and shine without any heavy feel. It works on its own or together with a lipstick. It's a great product, but $25.50 for a lipgloss?

Review: CoverGirl Outlast Lipstains

So when I saw these, I knew I had to try 'em. There aren't a whole lot of "bargain" lip/cheek stains around and of the high-end stains, the color spectrum is quite limited. Cover Girl's Outlast Lipstains ($8.49) contain water-based colorants to give lips a light-weight flush that won't come off for hours in pen/marker form. I had to go to CVS the other night, so I picked this up in #415 - Teasing Blush. It was one of the lighter colors there (or so I thought.) I eagerly ripped it open and began applying the medium raspberry stain. I was pleased by the fluidity and smoothness of the liquid. It was deeper in color than I had expected and there was a pleasant smell to it, which led me to believe that it would taste good, but, guess what? It doesn't. I was hoping that the lasting power would live up to expectations, but bad news, if you lick your lips, it will be gone in 10 minutes. Thankfully, this stain is non-drying, unlike other contenders in this category. Bottom line: Reviews are mixed. Some love it, some hate it. I'm somewhere inbetween.
Color varitey and price are its high points. Low points are lasting power and taste. YOU BE THE JUDGE!

Available in 10 colors:
-400 Everbloom Kiss
-410 Bit of Blossom
-405 Berry Smooch
-415 Teasing Blush
-420 Sassy Mauve
-425 Plum Pout
-430 Coy Coral
-440 Wild Berry Wink
-435 Flirty Nude
-445 Cinnamon Smile

New Products: DuWop

I was browsing Sephora online the other day, when I noticed these new DuWop products. They all look really cool and I want to try them all. Check it out.

-DuWop Foundation of Youth Liquid Foundation ($38)- A vegan, paraben free, oil free foundation that plumps the skin, restores supplenes and firmness and reverses the effects of environmental pollutants, stress and time. It contains a powerful antioxidant cocktail of Matryixyl 3000 and marine-based emollients that creates a fresh, youthful look. The built-in bursh allows for seamless, effortless application. I love the idea of this, because it takes a step out of the foundation process. I want to stick it in my purse just looking at it. Available in 2- Light, 3- Bisque, 40 Beige.

-Matillume ($38)- A fresh-baked clay formula that imparts a pure, matte luminosity. It acts as a tranlucent powder but like a traditional clay mask, it draws skin impurities to the surface, where they can be washed away at the end of the day. Natural, paraben-free, oil-free, fragrance-free, talc-free. Available in Lighter and Darker.

-Circle Block ($28)- A revolutionary two part system that blocks under eye circles with a water-resistant treatment shield, then covers them with a pigment-rich, ultra-smooth concealer. Ingredients include antioxidants, vitamins A, E and C, glycerin, shea butter. Both products are paraben-free and designed to stay put without settling into fine lines. Available in Light, Medium and Dark.

Isharya Sale @ Gilt Groupe

These are the LOVELY Isharya Earrings that my husband gave me for Christmas. (Sure I asked for them, but still.) Their technical name is orbit short purple druzy earrings and they cost $208. They are made of purple agate crater druzy and are 18k gold plated. I had never heard if Isharya before, until I noticed the earrings in Lucky Magazine and had to have them. Visit the website, Isharya.com to see more cool jewelry. Prices tend to be a bit high, but you're in luck!

They're having a sale at the Gilt Groupe, where you'll find items like the ones shown below. Not a member? Not to worry, simply leave your email in the comments section and I'll invite you.

This Ebony Bangle is on sale for $89, originally $178.

My personal pick would be these Gold Tier Earrings, on sale for $68, originally $136. I LOVE dangly earrings.

Review: L'Oreal Double Extend Lash Extension Effect Mascara

I recently tried L'Oreal Double Extend Lash Extension Effect Mascara ($10.99.) It uses the same "tube" technology that Kiss Me Mascara does. I was definitely interested, because this one is about half the price of Kiss Me. The process is different though. First you apply the white side, the nourishing basecoat. Then you apply the red side, the ultra lengthening topcoat. It claims to be smudge proof, flake proof, clump-free and 80% longer looking lashes. I wouldn't go as far to say they look 80% longer. For some reason, I feel like applying the white coat makes the lashes seem longer. The Kiss Me formula is very thin and not very volumizing in any way. They both are awesome in that they can be removed with warm water only. So which one do I like better? This one. Half the price and provides some volume and length that Kiss Me doesn't.

Check out this review at Total Beauty.com.

New Collection: Almay Pure Blends

I was flipping through my February issue of Lucky, when I noticed this Almay Pure Blends ad. It immediately reminded me of the newer natural lines, like Carmindy for Sally Hansen and Revlon's Beyond Natural.

Here's what they say about it:
Over 95% natural ingredients. No compromise.
The new generation of natural cosmetics. With over 95% natural ingredients, including extracts from fruits and flowers, you’ll discover an irresistible range of pure, light infused colors. There’s no compromise. Moisture-rich ingredients, petal soft textures and glide-on, live-in, weightless formulas create a brighter, flawless, lasting finish.

This collection includes a foundation, lip gloss, loose powder, blush and eye shadow. Available at most drug stores. I can't say I am too interested in it, but if I did get anything, it would probably be the foundation. Do you want anything? Why or why not? Have you jumped on the organic bandwagon? I haven't really... yet.

Review: 3 Custom Color Speicalists Mood Lighting Shimmer Cremes

3 Custom Color Specialists Mood Lighting Shimmer Cremes ($20.50) are a sophisticated take on sparkle that go on light and creamy, and dry down to a fine, powdery finish. These silky crèmes are applied with fingertips to the face and decollete, leaving you luminous. Available in 2 shades: Afterglow (pearlescent champagne with flecks of gold and violet) and On Fire (bronzed shimmer with a swirl of opalescence.)

I really like to use On Fire in the hollows of my cheek bones for definition, then dot Afterglow on the cheek bones. Afterglow is perfect to use on cheek bones, eyebrow bones, cupid's bow and I even use it to draw a thin line down the center of my nose, to make it look thinner. The creme dries to a lovely, fine powder that lasts I'd say about half the day. But it's easy to just throw the compacts in your purse makeup bag. Or you can have them packaged in a refillable trio, including Champagne Eyeshadow as pictured below, for $60.
